Crystal clear

Heysham Obs
Nothing much happened this morning but still three new species for the year as is par for the course in mid April

Coastal areas on and off till 1130
Arctic Tern - 2 in (no Sandwich tern seen!)
Swallow - 15 in
House Martin - 3 in
Purple Sandpiper - one under the remains of the middle tier of wooden jetty
Turnstone - at least 74
Cormorant - 46
Common Sandpiper - one flew round into harbour area
Linnet - 4 north

Middleton
singing Lesser Whitethroat and 3 Sedge Warbler

Heysham NR
Tree Pipit - 1 NE
Grounded stuff virtually non existent

Ocean Edge
Wheatear - 7

Outfalls
Huge numbers of Common Gulls - figure to be added by another observer

Mammal
Grey Seal number one outfall.
