Bonxie

A low tide check if the outfalls early am included a Bonxie which tried to catch a bh Gull sat on the sea. It missed and went to sit on a sandbank further out

Great crested Grebe - 7 in low tide channel

Shame it wasn’t the second day of near gale

Seawatching was hard work today with an average of about one Leach’s per hour over the tide and not a lot else other than a small collection of inshore waifs

Leachs Petrel - two singles and two together 1200-1545 with none later despite two supposedly heading our way past the Stone Jetty (photographed)
Manx Shearwater - one on sea briefly and likely to have been the tired bird also seen on sea off Jenny BP
Kittiwake - just two ad and one 1cy on outfalls
Common Tern - two ragged adults outfalls
Arctic Tern - Juv harbourmouth briefly perhaps also ad outfalls
Shag - 1cy early in tide sequence
Little gull - usual ad
Med gull - c15
Knot - 2220 south
Ruff - one south with high flying Curlew flock (bird of the day here!)
Wheatear - 4

Monday

Shag - new in 1cy harbour mouth midday

Canada goose - 3 south

Sunday

Med gulls - 9 adult plus 3 juv on beach near wooden jetty. A further 6 adult plus 1 juv from north side when flushed, from wherever they were feeding, by tide.

Not quite on the sea

a windy day was not quite good enough to produce much

Rock Pipit - at least two around

Great-crested Grebe - 10 around skeer at low water

A bit of a mixture

South side - am
Little gull  - 1 adult on outflows
Mediterranean gulls - 3 x 1cy on outflows
Rock pipit - 2 Red Nab
Wheatear - 6 on Ocean Edge foreshore

North side - pm
Rock pipit - 4. 1 near cafe, 2 under high cliffs (one looking particularly bedraggled- see pic below) and one on Heysham Head. That's 6 seen today, without the 2 near lighthouse which wasn't checked.

Mediterranean gull 1. This adult blogging in front of north wall. Couldnt tell if it had metal ring.

Knot c200 at least one with a ring, but out of reading range.

Curlew Sandpiper and a new Cricket

Lots of waders on sand out from Ocean Edge salt marsh at high water this morning, most in a mixture of summer plumage and winter plumage, and all stages in between. This will be the last neap tide not to cover the mud for a while.
