Missed the high jump!

A freshening SE wind. Mainly overcast with heavy showers by evening.

South shore
Janet did a quick morning check of the foreshore and Red Nab.
Linnet, again with goosegrass seeds attached

One of three Little Egret

I just checked the gulls on Red Nab as the tide reached the rocks this morning (Malcolm). There were just 7 adult and 2 1st calendar year Mediterranean gulls. The only ringed Med seen was the green ringed German bird.
There were 150+ Black-Headed gulls,
this is one of the Norwegian ringed birds

I had a walk along the sea wall this evening as soon as it was opened (closed during most weekdays for maintenance). I wanted to check the beach by the wooden jetty.
Mediterranean gulls 31 - 30 adults plus 1 1st calendar year, resting and feeding on the beach by the wooden jetty. Four at least had darvic rings (3 previously seen this year, the other too distant to read) plus there were three with a metal ring only.
The lower Med here has a metal ring on right tarsus

This one has a metal ring above the tarsus

This is a clip of some of the distant Meds feeding, the nearer bird towards the end of the clip has a white ring. Sorry about the shaky nature of this clip, but by this time it was quite blustery.

Just after this clip the heavens opened and it was time to leave.

Goldcrest 1 juvenile in the Nature Park

Middleton Nature Reserve (Malcolm)
Just a brief check of the two main ponds
Wildfowl unchanged
Cetti's warbler 1 singing - just one burst, but first heard for a while
Chiffchaff 2 calling
Bullfinch 1 male
Chaffinch 7 feeding below the seed feeders in the bottom car park
Jay 1 calling

These Roe Deer, a doe and her fawn, were feeding in the horse paddock just beyond the hedge on the north side of the roundabout to Imperial Road. You can hear the heavy traffic zipping past me.

The doe was on one side of the wire fence, the fawn on the other. There were no gaps in the fence, but just after this next clip I looked back and they were both on the far side and sloping off together The female can only have jumped over the fence. Wish I'd continued filming!
