Little Terns and Osprey best of a decent day

A dry largely sunny day. A light east breeze.

Two Little Tern in fishing then headed NW towards Barrow, another one out distantly later.

Shaun Coyle had a look around:

Willow Warbler

Long-Tailed Tit

Speckled Wood

Green-Veined White

South shore 09:00 - 10:30 (Malcolm)
Shelduck 3
Little Egret 2
Sandwich Tern 2 out
Swallow 3 north
Wheatear 3 - 2 on foreshore and 1 near the lighthouse

This lighthouse Wheatear clearly has its eye on something flying over

Linnet 6 - 2 at Red Nab plus 4 between lighthouse and waterfall
Rock Pipit 4 between lighthouse and waterfall, one likely the one that is seen along the sea wall as another chased it back there. (5 minimum with the Red Nab bird seen by Shaun).
This Rock Pipit was trying to persuade me to move on too!
It came within 3m of me when I was sat on the wall.

Unfortunately, the young Herring gull that was obviously unwell on the sloping roundhead wall on Friday didn't make it. It lay where I last saw it - mind Friday's warning regards contact with dead and ill birds.

Not many waders around, although it was too early in the tide for movement from the north side feeding grounds.
Oystercatcher 30
Curlew 1
Redshank 3
Redshank, the middle bird well on the way to summer plumage

Osprey 1 feeding at the end of No.1 outfall. First seen 10:01 - low water was 11:01. It caught a Bass 10:09 and disappeared to the south by 10:10.
It has a very conspicuous white feather on its upper left wing

The white feather was easily seen in flight.

This is it catching a Bass

You can just make out a blue ring of the right leg in this shot

So, blue ring and a white feather, if nothing else it should allow recognition
as being the same bird if seen here again. Hopefully it is also seen elsewhere.

It left to the south with a procession of gulls

In the Nature Park
Singing warblers
Common Whitethroat 2
Lesser Whitethroat 1
Chiffchaff 3

Just out of the Observation area. 41 plus 6 Arctic tern heading into bay from Preesall 1915 (4 adult little gull lingering, earlier two high in)
