Middleton Nature Reserve
Ringing report by Alan

I set nets at Middleton this morning from just after dawn. The site is poor for passage migrants when the wind is from the south but I had hoped to catch some of the grounded warblers.  Five species of warblers were singing in the vicinity but I was not successful - only seven birds caught in four hours comprised:

Chiffchaff  2 +1 retrap

Great Tit   3 unringed individuals was surprising

Blackbird  1 breeding female

Overhead, the only birds noted were two swallows in from the seaward side and an alba wagtail flying towards the northwest.

Janet checked later
