Some birds of interest, but hard won.

A strong SW wind, some showers but largely dry with some sunny spells by the afternoon and evening.

South Shore
Early morning check by Shaun:

05:30-07:30.

Common Scoter 4 out, close in.

'Resident' Shag on wooden jetty.

Mediterranean Gull 10 adults/3cy and 8 x 1cy.

I had a look on the ebbing tide in the afternoon (MD)

Common Tern 2 juvenile  - they flew east together out from the sea wall, they didn't go to the, otherwise busy, No.2 outflow presumably continued towards the estuary. Photography not easy as looking into the light, these were about my best efforts.

Terrible shots, but they were quite distant and didn't hang around

The 2nd calendar year Shag was having a swim in the lee of the wooden jetty's stone breakwater.

There was a juvenile Mediterranean gull on No.2 outflow and a Rock Pipit along the sea wall, and that's about it.

Heysham skear low water 09:40 (MD)
Not a lot seen, but hampered by some heavy showers

Great Crested Grebe 2

Eider c20 in a distant raft of mainly juvenile

Little Egret 7

Only waders seen were Oystercatcher, Curlew, Redshank and Turnstone
